EMPOWERING LOCAL COMMUNITIES
As a stalwart of the automotive industry in Malaysia, our continued presence brings considerable benefit to our workforce, empowering employees to achieve career advancement and make a bigger contribution as leaders of their local communities. From fostering inclusive and diverse workplaces built on the principle of equality of opportunity to ensuring well-rounded physical, social and intellectual development for our workforce, our initiatives in social development are based on the deeply held conviction that benefitting people is the ultimate end to any and all business activities.
Taking this belief further, we also strive to play an active role in community development outside the confines of our companies, extending a helping hand in times of need and, in particular, assisting communities on the ground in their fight against COVID-19.
ENSURING EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY
Inclusive and diverse workplaces are not only fair and just, but also bring about dynamic and meritocratic environments that encourage continual growth and reward original thinking. In enabling these positive outcomes, we firmly uphold equal opportunity workplaces where age, gender, religion, race, ethnic origin, marital status, sexual orientation, physical ability and education level does not constitute grounds for discrimination or unequal treatment.
STAFF BENEFITS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Complementing our focus on equality are our staff benefits and development programmes, which drive long-term retention of our staff and the accumulation of knowledge and expertise across the Group.
Recognising the pivotal role that staff satisfaction plays in achieving our corporate goals, our Transformation Management Team continually assesses the compensation and benefits which we offer our staff, facilitating ongoing and incremental improvement in our staff reward schemes. We strive equally to provide meaningful professional development opportunities which include online and in-person courses in business-critical areas such as sales, marketing, management skills and information technology.
MAINTAINING HEALTHY WORKPLACES
In light of COVID-19, we immediately instituted thorough health and sanitation practices across our Group to protect our employees and their families. During the first stage of the pandemic, we fully implemented a work-from-home arrangement, with staff gradually returning to the office on a rotational basis.
Presently, more than 50% of our workforce are working from their respective offices while adhering to strict standard operating procedures that include the wearing of masks at all times, pre-entry health and thermal screenings, and well-defined social distancing rules.
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Across our Group, we have made employee health and safety a priority, instituting measures, procedures and policies centred around our goals of maintaining zero deaths at our workplaces and minimising the incidence of workplace injuries.
Each of our subsidiaries have appointed Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) officers who are trained to recognise hazards and ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported to the management team. OSHA officers also report directly to the Group’s Risk Management Officer, who in turn presents reports on occupational health and safety to the Board on a quarterly basis. This hierarchy is designed to embed workplace health and safety as a consideration at the highest level.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) ACTIVITIES
Over the years, we have played a leading role in community development through our financial and in-kind contributions to charitable organisations, development initiatives and in-house programmes. By leveraging on the local knowledge and connections of our subsidiaries, we have been able to work with well-known NGOs and community organisations, ensuring that our contributions are both targeted and effective.
In light of COVID-19, our work took on even greater importance and urgency. As such, we stepped up our efforts with campaigns that created awareness on correct safety and health practices in pandemic times, as well as a donation of RM300,000.00 to the Ministry of Health in support of the government’s efforts in combating COVID-19.
