PENANG, Sept 8 (Bernama) — Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is confident of achieving its target of selling 161,000 units of Perodua vehicles this year.
Its managing director, Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar, said it will be able to achieve the sales projections for MyVi and Viva with the cessation in production of the two earlier models, Kelisa and Kancil (except 660cc).
The demand for Viva is highly inspiring although it was only recently launched, he told reporters after the launching of additional accessories for Viva and MyVi here today.
Since its launch, 30,000 orders have come for Viva, he said, adding that the demand was expected to increase with new colours to be introduced for the model in six months time.
Perodua is also projecting to sell 48,000 units of the Viva by end of this year.
“The company is in a good position to achieve this although the climate remains challenging for the local automotive industry,” he said.
Syed said the company has also set a 14 percent increase in sales for its car accessories and additions by 2010.
He said this was based on the trend of the younger generation of drivers who were keen to add on accessories to make their cars more “attractive”.
