SHAH ALAM: Hino Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd targets to sell 2,300 light commercial vehiclesthis year, said managing director Hiroo Kayanoki.
He added that Hino Motors’ share of the local light commercial vehicle market was projected to increase to 15% this year from 6.4% in 2004.
Hino’s latest EcoPlus models with 4-litre engine capacity consumed 15% less fuel when compared with its competitors, of similar engine capacity, he said after launching the Hino 300 series new truck models, XZU423 RD3, XZU423 RB3, XZU413 and WU300R yesterday.
Kayanoki expected the fuel-efficient EcoPlus models to make a bigger impact on the local market following the recent fuel price hike.
These vehicles, which are assembled locally, are targeted at courier companies, catering companies as well as distributors of retail goods.
The EcoPlus models are priced from RM69,000.
Since 1977, Hino Motors has sold over 42,000 commercial vehicles. It sold 1,396 light commercial vehicles last year, representing 11% share of the domestic market.
